The HJ11x4.7 T2.1 KLL-SC Canon Cinestyle lens will be attractive to those cinematographers who seek the widest-angle capability combined with a flexible degree of control over focal length. Weighing in at only 4.4 lbs, the lens is ideal for handheld, compact tripod, lightweight jib-arm, and Steadicam shooting.
Chromatic aberrations are tightly controlled over the 11x zoom range by the use of high index low dispersion materials. Contrast was extended by superb control of black reproduction – with optical and mechanical design innovations that substantially reduced flare, veiling glare, and any internal reflections. Similar attention to minimization of ghost images and other highlight-related chromatic distortions caused by strong light sources on-axis and off-axis further extend the operational contrast range of the lens.
The HJ11x4.7 KLL-SC lens has a maximum relative photometric aperture of T2.1 that is maintained over most of the focal range of the lens (it lowers slightly to T2.7 at full telephoto). It has exceptional behavior in terms of the ever-challenging specification on geometric distortion at the very wide-angle focal lengths.
Focus breathing in this lens is extremely well controlled – to where the undesirable alteration of angle of view with actuation of the focus control is now virtually eliminated. Zoom, Focus and Iris indications are engraved with dual large luminous scales while gear rings are compatible with studio focus rings, manual fluid zoom drives and motorized control systems. All distance markings are measured in feet.
