Electro-Voice RE50 Microphone:

Every day, for local, national and international news reports, the Electro-Voice RE50 Microphone gathers the audio for news interviews. Designed specifically as an ENG/EFP interview microphone, the RE50B’s custom Dyna-Damp “mic-within-a-mic” shock-mount provides extremely low handling noise for clear sound. A large, built-in Acousti-foam filter keeps wind and P-pop noise to an absolute minimum, indoors or out. Frequency response is 80 Hz to 13 kHz.

All handling noise, clothing noise, and even cord shock have been isolated from the microphone element so that mechanically induced noise is greatly reduced. With an advancement in shock-mounting techniques, these mics were designed particularly for hand-held broadcast and sound reinforcement use. The internal transducer uses a mechanical nesting concept all its own. Each part is nested inside another so that the transducer (head assembly) is nearly a solid structure. Therefore, it is highly resistant to damage from shock. A carefully designed integral windscreen and blast filter provide excellent protection from wind noise, excessive sibilance, and annoying P pops. The diaphragm is unaffected by temperature extremes and atmospheric conditions. By use of a high-mass zinc internal acoustic chamber, shock-mounted within the machined aluminum outer casting, the RE50 offers a degree of isolation unprecedented in an omni-directional dynamic microphone.
